History of IAFM

The India Association of Fort Myers (IAFM) was established in 1992, nearly 32 years ago, with a mission to unite the Indian diaspora in South West Florida.

Over the years, IAFM has played a pivotal role in bringing the community together and shaping the lives of the children within the community. Through numerous events and activities, it has exposed them to Indian culture and the rich Indian heritage. The flagship event of IAFM is India Fest which is held every year in spring, offering an opportunity to share the vibrant India culture with the wider community. Several thousand people attend each year to enjoy delicious food, captivating costumes, mesmerizing dances, and a variety of merchandise from the homeland.

The India Association of Fort Myers experienced a period of dormancy from 2019 to 2022. However, in 2023, a dedicated team of members came together to revive the organization.

In addition to India Fest, IAFM hosts events to celebrate popular festivals such as Diwali, Holi, Republic Day, and Independence Day. The association is committed to giving back to the local community that has been home to many of its members for decades. IAFM has supported various institutions such as The American Red Cross, Humane Society, City of Fort Myers, and many others, through contributions from its members and their families.
